My name is Amy Hertzske, the students call me Mrs. Amy! I have been teaching for 20 years and absolutely LOVE what I do. As a kindergarten teacher, I am the foundation of a student starting their educational career. The role I play in that can make or break how they view school. My goal for them is to have a lifelong love for their education. I have lived in Columbia for 16 years, with a 2-year break in Clarksville. I returned with the privilege of working under my previous, amazing principal, Dr. Pennell.
I am married to my wonderful husband, Kris, who works as a golf professional at Pillow Springs and started his own business, Killer Hook Golf, when we returned to Maury County. I have two amazing kids, Haley and Mason. They are both grown and living in the adult world. I am one proud MOM!
My husband and I have a bucket list to visit all 63 National Parks. We started several years ago, in honor of my father-in-law, who was a park ranger and has passed away. My name is AMY and I am an AMAZON shopaholic. What is more fun than shopping from your couch.
I graduated from Martin Methodist with my Bachelors in Elementary Education, MTSU with my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction, and have continue my love of learning with adding my +30 in areas of reading and math. I also went back to Union University to add a PreK endorsement to my licenses.
My motto is “We work HARD to play HARD!” and I cannot wait to start another school year at Riverside Elementary.
